Hey guys,

Just to reiterate, the Backerkit charges come from BroadSword Magazine or DMDave / Hamrick Brands, LLC. If you dispute the charge and deauthorize it, I will be forced to cancel your order. These disputes are hurting my excellent status with Stripe, so please make sure you double-check your bank messages before you click that it's fraudulent. In a few cases, folks who tried to get it squared away after the fact could not, and I can't accept payments from any source other than Stripe. 

If you've clicked a fraudulent purchase from BroadSword Magazine or DMDave / Hamrick Brands, LLC in the last 30 days, make sure you go back in and correct it.

Long, long week...

Hey folks!

Sorry for the radio silence over the last few days, especially if you sent a request for customer service, etc. Definitely not trying to ghost folks, but as I'm sure you can guess, I've mostly been in meetings regarding the open gaming license, Wizards of the Coast, and what the TTRPG landscape will be like in 2023 and beyond.

First, a few assurances:

• This project is unaffected by the changes in the open gaming licenses.
• While some of this mess has put me slightly behind, we're probably still on course for printing this mofo in early February once the Chinese New Year ends. So the timeline shouldn't change.
• I will continue to support this product and its derivatives in perpetuity.

Beyond all of this, it's unlikely that my business will continue to operate within the Fifth Edition landscape, as not only will it present some legal challenges, but I'm very disappointed in Wizards of the Coast as a whole.

Fortunately, some cool things are in the works. Later today, I have an interview with NPR (National Public Radio for those who aren't in the US). Then this evening, I've scheduled a meeting with a very large publisher (I won't name-drop here, but I'm sure you can guess who) with talks to bring myself and a few hundred creators to their brand.

Anyways, now that things are (kinda???) calming down, I should be back to work and able to help wherever I'm able.

Hey all!

Capital One is very fraud averse and tends to reject charges they see as unusual. If you've recently received a charge from BroadSword Monthly or Magazine, that's from us for the Backerkit charges (shipping, add-ons, etc.) A lot of those from Capital One are getting kicked back to me. I'm sending receipts, but it's still a very, uh... tedious process. Haha

Anyways, please message me directly on here, and I can get things sorted for you if there's an issue with charges. Thanks!

Re-distributing alpha files and going through your requests

Hey everyone,

Just letting you know that I've resent the alpha file. Looks like the first one went out to approximately 3,200 folks (of 5,300).  The second batch should send it to another 1,000 of you. Many of you will probably get a second notification, so just a heads up there.

I'll be working through the requests today to ensure those of you who haven't gotten it yet will get your copy. 

To get the order, make sure that you're locked in as these are only going out to those who are officially locked in.

Happy New Year, folks!

Hope you had a safe and enjoyable NYE. I spent the evening watching Glass Onion with my wife as we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.

Cards Are Charged

If you didn't already notice, I've charged cards for backerkit. This won't be the only charge, just the first one I'll do. So if you do have an issue, you'll have some time to fix it before we go to print and start shipping. 

Alpha Distribution PDF Is Now Available for Download

To ensure we get a copyright notice for the 2022 year, the editor, TJ, and I put together a preliminary version of the book. This is definitely not the final version, but at least something to whet your appetites and collect feedback with. It does include the text for all the monsters in the 5e SRD, as well as a few bonus ones. So "the steak" is done, so to speak. We're just waiting on "the potatoes." ;)

There's a bunch of stuff we still have to add, including:

• Table of Contents/Credits
• Introductory Text (How to Use this Book, Etc.)
• Indices, Appendices, Etc.
• Corrections (our proofer made a boo-boo and corrected the wrong document all last month; we're fixing it now, but all his corrections haven't made it into this version yet)
• Whatever else I feel like adding between now and the end of Chinese New Year when we start printing

Note that this is just the book and not all the accessories, too. Those should be out closer to when we go to print in February.
