The Fifth Edition Gamemaster's Survival Guide

Final PDF Uploaded! Wooo! Adventure Book Coming Next

Hey everyone,

The final PDF of the main Gamemaster's Survival Guide book is uploaded and ready for you to download. It takes about an hour for Backerkit to send all the copies, so if you don't see it immediately, just hang in there. If you don't get it in a week or so, message me here or hit me up at my email [email protected], and I'll get you squared away.

John, our proofer, just finished up proofing the How to Write Adventures book, too, so expect to see that here probably in the next day or two.

After that, I'm wide open, so if there's something you want to see us put together in priority of the other things, let me know. I know that the last thing will probably be the DMDave Adventure Compendium as that'll ship separately from the rest of the stuff, and it'll go out much faster than the rest (ironically, it can be the last thing we write, and the first thing that arrives).

I'm pretty stoked because we're 100% on target for our goals and still tracking to have the stuff into your hands before the deadline this October.

Hey folks,

Just a heads-up on where we're at in the production process. 

Thank you all so much for submitting the typos/errors emails to us.  I've sent them to TJ, who should be able to bang out the final copy pretty fast. Once it's done, I'll post an updated version on Backerkit.

I also took the time to write the How to Write Adventures book. So expect to see a rough draft of that soon. Our proofer, John, should be going over it within the next couple of days or so. We'll still need to format it, but since I plan to handle that myself, it shouldn't take long.

You can probably expect to see the other odds and ends of this campaign coming in over the next few weeks as we gear up to get it all printed. The OGL fiasco set us a few weeks back, but we're still mostly on schedule. The only wild card is international production delays which seem to be pretty rampant in the business, but fortunately, we gave ourselves plenty of time.

Today's the Day! The Beta PDF is out for you to read!

Hey everyone!

I know it's been quiet here lately, but that's because we've been focused on getting the PDF done. The OGl fiasco tripped us up a little, but now that the SRD is in creative commons and they're not messing with the 1.0a, we can do as we please.

I've got five different distribution rules to fill, so it might take a little time to get it. So if you don't see it right away, please wait at least a week before you message me, as I'll no doubt be slammed with requests.

I also plan to message some of you back who've hit me up on messages. 

Keep in mind that this is the beta, so while we've had proofers observe it, and TJ and I went over it no less than 7 times, there are bound to be a few mistakes somewhere in its 310 pages. If you catch something, drop me an email at [email protected] with the subject "Gamemaster's Survival Guide Typos and Errors," and we will get it fixed. If you respond here or in the messenger, it might get missed.

Also, you can expect the rest of the content to slowly make its way out now that the "steak" is finished cooking.

What an insane last couple days it's been!

Hey everyone!

If you didn't already hear, we all officially won the battle against Wizards of the Coast and their wanting to change the open gaming license. They've placed the Fifth Edition SRD into the Creative Commons (effective yesterday), so we never have to worry about them trying to control the game—at least this edition of the game—ever again.

But that's not the only good news. The GMSG is nearly wrapped up in its final format. Check out this screenshot from our editor.

So yeah. It's been a helluva few days.

I should have more details soon, but we're definitely on track to have this done by the end of this week, and then it should be off to the printers shortly after that.
