Handing over the final documents this week—new PDF coming soon!
8 months ago – Mon, Sep 18, 2023 at 08:04:15 AM

Hey all,

Just letting you know that I'm handing over the final PDF documents to the manufacturer this week. I've added in all suggestions on the final PDF and will be releasing it this Friday via Backerkit. Our manufacturer pointed out that AP was shrinking JPGs, so I should have that fixed for high-quality images. Additionally, you'll have the Table of Contents and Bookmarks in there as well.

In the meantime, I'm working on releasing the next most sought-after book, the encounter cheat sheet.

Thanks, everyone!

Thanks all for your feedback! And here's our adjusted schedule for the main book.

Thanks everyone who gave suggestions on correcting the book and other doo-dads. I've added bookmarks to the book, fixed the final errors, and adjusted a few other things. The Final (is anything ever truly final? <existential music>) version will be out shortly.

I also have some good news regarding the main book printing schedule. While it's a little behind the originally anticipated release, we're still in a pretty good spot as we'll avoid getting stuck behind Chinese New Year.

From our manufacturer (keep in mind there's a lot of jargon here, and I'll communicate what it means):

  • September 22nd: Final files sent to our manufacturer.
  • October 13th: I get a copy of the book to proof and greenlight.
  • October 20th: Any final changes are approved and sent in.
  • October 24th: I okay any fixed PDFs (that way, I don't have to wait for more samples to arrive).
  • October until mid-Dec: The book gets printed, bound, etc.
  • Dec 11 to January 13th: The books hop on a boat and make their way to our Washington fulfillment center.
  • End of January: Most of the US gets theirs. UK/EU and Australia follow shortly.

In the meantime, I'll be fulfilling what I can from the US and working with them on the accessories.

The OGL fiasco this year altered our course a bit, as well as our decision to switch manufacturers (this new company is AWESOME, by the way—I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to print books overseas). Either way, 2-3 months off the target isn't terrible, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Anyway, if y'all need anything, feel free to drop us a note at [email protected] or here, and we'll get what you need right away. You can probably expect the encounter book in PDF format next, as well as a finalized version of the "How to Write Adventures." Curiously, the encounter book is the one I've been having the hardest time with as I'm trying the decide the best way to present it. I think I've landed on a final format which I will share shortly.

Bookmarks!

Hey all,

Just wrapped this up and fixed a few more errors (I swear, you can proof something 800 times and always come back with something else.)

Plus, I've added this:

I'll have these up a little later this week. I want to take a moment to step back, reread it for any last minute errors, then fix it.

Thanks!

Final PDFs Sent... and the core book is off to the printers!
8 months ago – Fri, Sep 08, 2023 at 08:59:44 AM

Hey everyone!

Quick update for you all. The main book's final proof just wrapped up today. Now, it's off to the printers. Of course, there's always a chance that there's still some errors (we've done six passes, so hopefully not, but that's how things go sometimes). If you find any, let me know at [email protected] and we'll get them set. Even though the PDF is in the printer's hands, we have some time before the finals are done.

Thanks for your patience, all! I hope you enjoy the latest and, hopefully, final version.

PS Yes, the table of contents now has clickable links. ;)
